Allied Specialty Resources (ASR)
The Nuclear industry is currently facing significant challenges in the area of workforce management due to the current worker demographics. The majority of the nuclear plants in the United States came online in the 1970’s and early 1980’s. During that time, the workforce that is currently working, began their careers. As a result, the demographics are such that over 50% of the current workforce population is eligible to retire now or in the next 3 to 5 years. Each of the large utilities with Nuclear generation have this challenge.
As a result of these discussions, and our own research, we established a 100% women-owned company. Allied Specialty Resources was created to meet this demand. We have very competent owners who are knowledgeable of this business. Right now, we are concentrating in two specific craft areas: I&C Technicians and Electrical Breaker technicians.
The reason we are focusing at first on the I&C and Electrical area, is because it is a very skilled area and technicians with experience are very difficult to find. Our team has an extensive network and through this network we feel confident that we can find and produce the talent that is needed in the industry.
We have in parallel, established relationships with the local technical colleges and local engineering colleges. This relationship has actually provided our first contract where we supplied two students to actually perform hands on breaker work. Additionally, we have separate contracts for providing I&C craft and superintendents for large I&C digital replacements.
As you can see, we are extremely excited about this fantastic opportunity to establish a woman owned business that provides a very much needed service to our customers.
